Merging local and national artist, organizations and vendors, this program creates an unforgettable monthly musical experience that enriches as well as celebrates the history and culture of the African American community in Pompano Beach.

The Pompano Beach Cultural Affairs Department is proud to announce an exciting new film series that will that will provide a platform for emerging filmmakers to engage a local following. Montage will feature curated film screenings, industry networking events, workshops, artist talks and panel discussions. The film series will take place on the last Thursday of each month and will rotate among the Pompano Beach Cultural Center, Bailey Contemporary Arts and the Historic Ali Cultural Arts. The series begins February 28, 2019 at 7pm at the Cultural Center. Tickets for all events are $10 and can be purchased at the door. Tickets are available online and at the Cultural Center Box Office.
The 48 Hour Film Project is an international phenomenon which challenges filmmaking teams to create a movie in 48 hours. The event is open to both professionals and novices. Those interested in learning more about this exciting event, will have an opportunity to meet the facilitator, Cathleen Dean on March 28, 2019. At this mixer, attendees will learn how to build a competitive team, learn all requirements and register for the Project. Guests will also view past entrants’ films and interact with emerging filmmakers in the area.
The next 48 Hour Film Project will take place the weekend of May 10, 2019. This is a wild and sleepless weekend in which teams make a complete movie - write, shoot, and edit - in just 48 hours. On Friday night, teams draw a genre from a hat. They are then given a character, prop and line to include in their films. On Sunday night, in a wild dash to the drop off event, the film is turned in - and teams celebrate. The film is then screened at a local theater in front of an audience of filmmakers, friends and families!
